VERY RARE and exceptional small cabinet hydroxylherderite combination from this most obscure San Diego County pegmatite - the Green Cloud Mine. A 2.5 cm, well-formed, doubly terminated, translucent, gray hydroxylherderite crystal with a striking chisel termination and satin luster faces is jauntily set on the edge of the sculptural small cabinet cream-colored, bladed microcline matrix. Rich clusters of glassy cleavelandite blades and RARE scattered lime-green muscovite (mine namesake) are outstanding accessories to this extreme rarity. The pegmatite is "the source of southern California's finest hydroxylherderite specimens" (MINDAT). See: https://www.mindat.org/loc-188581.html. The piece was collected in the late 1990s by Jon Page and Al Ordway working together and passed into other hands later. Ex Bill Larson San Diego County Collection and long on display at his Pala International shop in Fallbrook.
