Hydroxylherderite

Item Description

Hydroxylherderite specimens from Pakistan are not terribly common on the market, especially these days. Outside of the classic crystals from the Xanda Mine in Brazil, these green crystals from Pakistan are among the best examples of the species in terms of size, quality and color. This specimen hosts several very lustrous, blocky, sharp, well-formed, soft yellow-green colored monoclinic crystals measuring up to 2.6 cm, associated with white Albite. The piece is in very good shape, with no major damage that I can find anywhere, outside of a few tiny points of attachment where the piece was connected to the pocket. According to the entry on mindat.org, "This specimen was photographed and published as a novelty at the 2007 Munich Show in the magazine ‘Le Règne Minéral’ number 78, page 37." From the collection of Vasco Trancoso, a medical doctor and prominent mineral collector from near Lisbon, Portugal (https://www.mindat.org/user-11954.html).
