Hydroxylherderite

Item Description

Very nice, golden tan and robust crystal of Hydroxylherderite exhibiting several smaller crystals and a portion of a larger crystal in association. All crystals are terminated; however, there is evidence of pocket rupture in the pegmatite pocket given the fracturing and rehealing of the larger crystals which makes for an interesting story for the history of this piece. Crystals are opaque and very lustrous with prominent zoning from a smoky gray interior to a lustrous golden tan on the exterior. A great example from the Brazilian pegmatites of Minas Gerais state..
