Item Description

RARE, fantastically whimsical large pseudomorph material from this obscure Pb-Zn-Ag mine located near the renowned Mina Ojuela. "The Astillero Mine produced a moderate number of odd light tan to off-white pseudomorphs of Hydroxylapatite (not Chlorapatite) replacing at least three other unidentified species" (MINDAT). This surreal and colorful 360-degree specimen consists of striking stacked clusters of rounded, layered, multi-hued Hydroxylapatite pseudos after??? The isolated barrel or mushroom-shaped pseudos at the top are a stunning accent. Striking color hues are: pastel-pink; lavender, multi-hued yellow; gray; tan and brown. The rounded form of these pseudos is VERY RARE from here, as most such pieces replaced bladed elongate or equant crystal habits. Ex Kay Robertson Collection, a very well-known California collector, who passed away in 2020.
