Item Description

Hydroxylapatite pseudomorphs after tabular hemimorphite blades are RARE from this very obscure Mapimi area mine, near famed Mina Ojuela. A sculptural dense cluster of bladed brown pseudos is dramatically accented with five tan botryoids of apatite. The large pseudo blade is 2.0 cm and large botryoid is 6 mm. Complete all-around and essentially pristine. A most fascinating and RARE pseudo combination from the Alfred Stevenson and Eugene Carmichael Collections. This material was mined in the 1960s. A preponderance of specimen material from Astillero has been sold as coming from Ojuela (MINDAT). See also Page 54 of the Mineralogical Record Ojuela Mine Special Issue, 2003, Vol 34, No. 5. A MUST for the pseudomorph, locality or species collector!
