Item Description
A rarely seen example of Hydroxylapatite on MATRIX from the Oksøyekollen locality in Snarum, Norway. Most of the crystals I've seen from this locality are loose singles, off matrix, so a piece like this is certainly not easy to find. A sharp, well-formed, stout, chalky white hexagonal crystal of Hydroxylapatite measuring 1.3 cm sits atop grey bladed Albite var: Cleavelandite matrix. There are some other little crystals of Hydroxylapatite that can be seen scattered over the piece for a nice touch. I have to say that this white hue is the brightest color I've seen for the material, as they often have more of a grey overtone. From the collection of Tim Sherburn.
