Item Description

For many years, these specimens were been labeled as Clinohumite, and I've even seen some of them labeled as Chondrodite, but recent analysis has shown at least SOME of them are Hydroxyclinohumite, which is the case with this piece. I will say that both Chondrodite and Hydroxyclinohumite are members of the Humite Group, so they are closely related in terms of chemistry and crystal form. This piece features a sharp, well-formed, lustrous, gemmy (when backlit), deep reddish color monoclinic (pseudo-hexagonal) crystal of Hydroxyclinohumite measuring 1.7 cm matrix. Fine quality and certainly a must-have for any species collector. Very aesthetic and fine quality.
From the collection of Gerry Morvell.
