Item Description
These specimens have been labeled in the past as Clinohumite, and I've seen some of them labeled as Chondrodite, but recent analysis has shown at least SOME of them are Hydroxyclinohumite. Both Chondrodite and Hydroxyclinohumite are members of the Humite Group, so they are closely related in terms of chemistry and crystal form. This piece comes with a dealer label stating it is indeed Hydroxyclinohumite and features sharp, well-formed, lustrous, gemmy (when backlit), deep reddish color monoclinic (pseudo-hexagonal) crystals of Hydroxyclinohumite measuring up to 7 mm on greenish colored Muscovite matrix from this contemporary discovery. Fine quality and certainly a must-have for any species collector. From the collection of Brian Kosnar, mineral dealer and collector from Colorado.
