Hydroxyapophyllite-(K) (rare) on Okenite

Item Description

A cool association specimen from the Kandivili Quarry near Mumbai (Bombay), India featuring colorless, gemmy, pyramidal prismatic crystals of Hydroxyapophyllite-(K) measuring up to 1.8 cm, sitting on almost "cotton ball"-esque groups (Rock's label calls them puff balls) of cream-white colored Okenite. Both minerals are fairly rare from India, and the combination of the two species together is excellent. Very good quality all around, and certainly a must have for any fan of minerals from the Deccan Trap. From the collection of the beloved mineral dealer and collector Rock H. Currier (1940-2015) who was the long-time owner of Jewel Tunnel Imports. Collection #2123 - acquired from Hussein Tyebjee's shipments from Bombay. Rock travelled the world in search of mineral specimens, and built and impressive collection over his lifetime. He was one of the more colorful and unforgettable figures in the mineral world.
