Item Description
From the distinguished Fairfax Quarry in Virginia, this is a very large plate consisting of a solid, 2 cm layer of green Prehnite. Richly covering the Prehnite are two generations of Hydroxyapophyllite-(k) - the first being small crystals and the second large, tabular Apophyyllites up to 2.1 cm on edge. All have a superb, pearlescent luster. Fairfax is known for this combination of minerals and they can be highly sought-after. Collected by Dave Dinsmore ca. 1980, this was previously in the collection of Gunther Schwartz. From the large worldwide collection of historical minerals, of George Elling of New Jersey.
