Item Description
The famed Foote Mine in North Carolina is one of the great species-dense localities in the United States, and while it's best known for its phosphates, there are many other species found there. This piece is the ONLY specimen of Hydroxyapophyllite-(K) that we've ever had to offer from this prestigious locality. There isn't even a single piece of Hydroxyapophyllite-(K) listed (at least as the primary species) on mindat.org from the Foot Mine. This small cabinet specimen features sharp, well-formed, blocky crystals that range from white to silvery hues measuring up to 2.1 cm on matrix. Most of the crystals are in good shape, but there are some small imperfections in areas, still more than forgivable to get your hands on a piece of this ridiculously elusive material.
From the collection Jack Eaker (whose label says the specimen was identified by Jason Smith).
