Item Description

A RARE and striking golden-yellow fluorite cube from this obscure extinct fluorite mine. The gemmy, stepped-growth cube is richly covered with lustrous hydrocarbon (bitumen). The dead hydrocarbon does not fluoresce, while the fluorite does. Self-collected by Ross Lillie (# 0230) in the down-dropped graben block in July, 1981. An important rarity for the famous district.
