Hyalite Opal, Schorl & Smoky Quartz (2023 find)

Sculptural and surreal large two-sided, sloping combination rib from a new 2023 find in the famous Erongo Mountains of Namibia. A striking, segmented curved band of glassy, bubbly, yellow-green and white Hyalite Opal partially covers one end of the impressive "front" of the piece. A sharp, 2.3 x 2.3 x 2.0 single, doubly terminated schorl crystal and a 3.1 x 3.0 cm cluster of intergrown schorl crystals are dramatically set on the matrix covered on both sides with densely intergrown Smoky Quartz crystals, to 1.5 cm. The schorl crystals are nearly pristine, with only modest edge wear, which is certainly only a minimal detraction. Neon-green hyalite opal fluorescence under BOTH LW and SW UV light on this exotic and aesthetic large two-sided combination.
