Item Description
Opal has not been reported from this locality, and I literally did a double take when I first saw this specimen. Most people are familiar with the gorgeous "stars" of prismatic golden Rutile which forms around metallic silvery Hematite, but how many of you have seen these pieces coated by Hyalite Opal!? Now, Hyalite is no longer the correct term, it's called Opal-AN, but make no mistake, this stuff is legit. A coating of colorless, semi-spherical gemmy Opal can be seen coating prismatic golden Rutile needles with a small bit of metallic silvery Hematite at the base of the piece. To top it off, the Opal GLOWS under UV light, like many Hyalite Opals. If you collect Opal, or mineral oddities or Brazilian minerals, you can't afford to miss out on this rare and interesting display specimen. Value is hard to determine based upon the rarity, but from what I was told, there were only a few of these pieces, so if you want one, do NOT miss out on this one.
