Item Description
Hureaulite is a rare and beautiful manganese phosphate was named in 1825 after the type locality, a village in France by the name of Hureaux. Arguably the best and most well-known samples are those from the Joca£o pegmatite in Brazil with their glowing electric orange-pink color crystals in larger sized crystals (most other Hureaulites are micro crystals from various localities around the world). This piece is a superb, classic cabinet display specimen of Hureaulite featuring dozens of notably sharp, lustrous, translucent, vibrant orange-pink colored monoclinic crystals on both sides of the piece. The largest crystal measures 5 mm long. Associated greenish black hemispherical and prismatic aggregates of Rockbridgeite on various spots around the piece. No real damage to the Hureaulites, save the periphery where it was detached from the pocket. A very worthwhile specimen of this hard to find material, from arguably the best location for the species in terms of the size and color of the crystals. Valued at $950.
