Item Description
Hulsite is a very rare iron-magnesium-tin borate and this rich specimen is from the famed old mining region of the Czech Republic. Pods of vitreous, sub-metallic, black hulsite are found on the front and sides of this rich and hefty specimen of magnesium ore. The associated yellow-brown fibrous crystals are schoenfliesite, a very rare magnesium-tin oxide. Combination specimens of these rarities are EXTREMELY RARE from this locale. Not pretty to look at, but most certainly significant for the rare species and locality. Ex Josef Vajdak Collection, a noted Czech specialist. Given the labels and Josef's specialty in th emineralogy of the region, I trust the mineral is there in some amount, although I admit to not being quite sure what part to photograph here. I DO know that the few hulsites I have seen, from old finds in Alaska, have commended $500-1000 for mere specks in the rock!
