Item Description

Hulsite is a rare Fe-Mg-Sn borate found in contact metamorphosed limestone deposits. This fine old-timer is from the Alaska Type Locality and has a fine provenance, having been in the Willaim Vaux and Philadelphia Academy of Sciences Collections. Silvery, sub-metallic microcrystals and tabular masses are scattered in the matrix along with rare for the locale, green vesuvianite crystals and massive calcite. The numbers match and the old Foote label adds historical value to this rare and excellent combination. Not pretty to look at, but this is a significant rarity. Old-time specimens, such as this, are rarely on the market. Valued at $500-750.
