A huge, 5.6 cm, skutterudite crystal is the crowning glory of this superb, uncommon cobalt, iron, nickel arsenide. The unusually well-formed crystal is splendent, silver-metallic. Note the quality of the faces, like garnet but made of metal! This is an exceptional specimen for the crystal size as most such specimens have nice crystals stuck in clunky matrix but this one displays nicely and the large crystal is so 3-dimensional. An IMPORTANT example of the species, and frankly a great piece we just got lucky on getting in a collection lot, or it wouldn't possibly be in auctions at this price.
