A rare, huge, impressive, undulating sheet copper specimen from Copper Country and the Sal Avella Collection. Both sides have a striking, angular, rippled look, like the windward and steep slip faces of sand dunes. This dramatic large specimen has been lightly cleaned to bring out the very rich and bright copper patina. Copper Country is renowned for sharply crystallized copper specimens, but very few sheet copper specimens. Sheet copper is well-known from the White Pine MIne in Ontonagon County, where the copper was deposited in the Nonsuch Shale. Very seldom available in this size and sculptural quality.
