Item Description

HUGE, RARE and dramatic scapolite from this less well-known skarn deposit in Quebec. The striking, sculptural, porcelaneous grayish-white compound crystal is dramatically enhanced by the multiple sharp parallel-growth terminations. The specimen is also partially doubly terminated and the embedded titanite crystals and crystal sections add even more importance to this singular piece. Strikingly complete all-around and the brown coatings add contrast and allure. Undoubtedly older material, but no proof. ex Cook Collection. We feel very lucky to have picked up the large collection of Bill and Anne Cook of Cleveland, recently. It is a tribute to their long efforts, how many interesting minerals and old localities were preserved and carefully labelled so you can see them now. Bill and Anne collected for at least 60 years. A VERY RARE, possibly unique and important large scaplite with accessories from the locale. Mass is 2152 grams or 4.7 pounds. A MUST for the species or locality collector!
