Item Description

Wernerite is an old (1800) obsolete name for an intermediate member of the Scapolite Group. This is a RARE, huge, old, sharp and sharply terminated crystal from an obscure New York locality, where these were reported. Three termination faces and three prism faces are well-formed on this large lustrous, mottled gray tetragonal crystal. The attached matrix is solid scapolite. From an East Coast collection and comes with century-old, faded, torn and water stained label. Rare, perhaps unique, New York scapolite. A MUST for the locality or species collector.
