Item Description
A HUGE and VERY RARE terminated rutile crystal from this classic locale. This is a beautiful, sharp, deep wine-red rutile crystal with splendent luster and superlative striations. The interesting stepped termination adds pizzazz. Complete-all-around and pristine. It GLOWS with cherry-red color, when backlit! Exceptional and very rare older material from the Kay Robertson Collection # 788. Kay acquired this piece in the early 1950s or earlier, with the low acquisition number. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A MUST for the locality or species collector! valued $750-1000
