Item Description

A remarkable and artistic large crystallized quartz from well-known Mt. Ida. This impressive, 3-dimensional rich piece of lustrous, glassy, water-clear to translucent points are highlighted by the three large crystals dominating the skyline. From left to right: 13.5 cm long, gemmy and doubly terminated; 15.0 cm long and a gemmy tip; and 8.0 cm long and half gemmy. 4575 grams or 10.1 pounds mass. Ex Al Kidwell Collection. Al was a well-known mineral collector and research geologist with Carter Oil Company and later Exxon Oil Company in Houston, Texas. The phosphate species Kidwellite was named in his honor in 1974. A very fine large, artistic and pristine quartz from Mt. Ida. Classic Arkansas quartz.
