Huge polished Rhodochrosite stalactite slice (Stoudt Coll.)

Truly an impressive polished on both sides slice through what was a HUGE stalactite of rhodochrosite, from Argentina. You can see the beautiful concentric deposition layers around core. It has wonderful hues from light salmon pink all the way to a very rich deep, almost red hue, plus a thin tan zone. The slice is not complete all the way around - the stalactite evidently could not be removed intact. But nevertheless, this is a truly dramatic mineral specimen! This was cut from a pocket of stalactites of large size found in 1988-1989. Ex Dave Stoudt Collection. He lived and worked there and established good contacts at this important locale. Valued north of $1500, as you just do not see this size available readily today. The backlit photos just GLOW with color!
