Huge polished Rhodochrosite stalactite slice (Stoudt Coll.)

Truly an impressive polished on both sides slice through what was a HUGE stalactite of rhodochrosite, from Argentina. You can see the beautiful concentric deposition layers and the three small cores. It has wonderful hues from light salmon pink all the way to a very rich deep, almost red hue. The slice is not complete all the way around - the stalactite evidently could not be removed intact. But nevertheless, this is a truly dramatic mineral specimen! This was cut from a pocket of stalactites of large size found in 1988-1989. Ex Dave Stoudt Collection.
