Item Description
Wow! A giant sharp, grossular garnet is dramatically perched on smaller crystal on this most impressive large specimen from this noted Mexican locale. The sharp crystals are textbook dodecahedrons, have high luster, slight translucence and unusual pinkish-tan color. The impressive large crystal is 8.8 x 8.30 x 6.3 cm and there are fragments of olive-green vesuvianite at the base. A striking 360-degree specimen with only a modest bit of mostly out-of-sight side wear to the huge large crystal. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection. This important crystal cluster was formerly in thewell known Paul Patchick Collection, who purchased the piece from the dealer who collected it, George Burnham, probably in the 1950s. A must for the locality or species collector. Valued at $2000-2500. the size and 3-dimensionality of this piece stand out dramatically from anything found here in modern times.
