Huge floater Spinel xl

Item Description

This crystal is a classic spinel-twin and is the largest spinel I have seen from this well-known locale: A truly huge, floater (complete all around) spinel crystal from recent finds in Vietnam. This dramatic, textbook, octahedral crystal is mottled reddish-brown. Part of the crystal is lustrous, with the remainder having a secondary coating of a moderate luster. This monster is crudely terminated and etched at the base, so is complete all around. Very nearly pristine, only a bit of contacting on the left front is noted. 493 grams or a over a POUND in weight for a single spinel crystal - I find this incredible! Valued at $1500-2000 for sheer size and textbook form.
