Item Description

A huge, older, floater, benitoite crystal from the famous Dallas Gem Mine. This significant and important opaque crystal has textbook trigonal shape and is lustrous, blue-gray. The crystal is included with crossite, a discontinued amphibole varietal name and the bit of white natrolite on each side adds contrast. This is a nearly pristine, complete all-around floater, with only one lightly contacted corner. An important, classic and striking, large crystal from this noted locale mined by Buzz Gray in the 1980s or 90s. Blue-white fluorescence. Valued at $2500-5000 range, as it is really hard to find comparables and say what this might be worth today, now nearly a decade after the place is mostly mined out. Crystals of this size and quality are RARELY on the market. In fact, they are almost never seen. As with many larger crystals, they are included and not so gemmy, but it has a moderate color, excellent form, and HUGE size.
