Item Description
An extremely LARGE Andradite-Grossular garnet from the Kayes Region in Mali. This massive 4.6 pound garnet cluster has a well formed 9 cm rhombic dodecahedron single crystal with several smaller crystals on the sides and underneath. The garnets exhibit green, mottled green and rootbeer colored crystals with good luster. There is some contacting and bruising on the crystals underneath, but that does not detract from the unique and impressive main garnet crystal that is a show-stopper. HUGE crystal at just under 2.5 kilos of solid garnet! Formerly in the Chet Lemanski collection.
