Hubnerite with Quartz (classic 1970s find)

Showy and dramatic combination of numerous sharp, lustrous, silvery-black crystals of Hubnerite beautifully oriented and intergrown with well terminated Quartz crystals. The Hubnerite exhibit an elongated fan/spray of prismatic crystals, up to 1.8 cm wide, that are slightly curved and continuing to grow in a seam between the Quartz transitioning into more parallel growth towards the back. The familiar reddish brown color is present on some of the crystal edges under a strong light. The associated translucent milky to clear Quartz crystals add a nice contrasting interest to the piece. The large, 2.5 cm wide, Quartz crystal extending over the top does appear to be a 12 cm long doubly terminated crystal. It is noted that there are contacted and incomplete crystals of both Quartz and Hubnerite on the piece, certainly acceptable in the context of these specimens. A very attractive combination from one of the most famous Peruvian localities; and this is absolutely classic for the material as it was found in the 1980s.
