Item Description

When it comes to Hübnerite specimens from the San Juan Mountains of Colorado, most people are familiar with old Adams Mine pieces, but there were some excellent Hübnerites that came out of the lesser known Ruby Mine, northeast of Silverton. This piece features dozens of sharp, well-formed, lustrous, dark reddish-black, bladed crystals of Hübnerite measuring up to 5 mm, sitting on host rock matrix. Most of the crystals are in good condition, and some of them show a bit of red translucency when backlit. A cool locality specimen for anybody who likes manganese-bearing minerals, or minerals of Colorado.
