A sculptural and aesthetic small cabinet hubnerite and quartz combination from this well-known Peru locality, famous for world-class rhodochrosite and hubnerite specimens. Three impressive clusters of parallel-growth, brilliant lustre, well-striated metallic-gray, tabular hubnerite crystals are dramatically enclosed by dense jackstraw clusters of quartz points. A fine accessory next to the pristine dominant 4.7 cm terminated prism in the front is the 2.3 cm gem quartz point on the side. There are a few small areas of classic cherry-red hubnerite translucence under bright light. Most of the other tabular hubnerites have terminations contacted against the vug roof, a common occurrence, with only a few broken terminations noted. These are certainly only modest detractions. Choice and classic combination material from the famous Huayllapon Mine at Pasto Bueno. Overall, a very fine quality display specimen from classic old finds here. Valued at $1500-2000.
