Hübnerite on Quartz

Hübnerite from Peru is certainly among the top examples of the species ever found in terms of fine quality specimens. Here we have an attractive miniatures sized piece from the find around 2008 that produced some of the finest quality Hubnerite crystals from anywhere. Though the crystals are not the largest ever seen from this locality, they are rather sharp, and well-formed with good luster. This piece hosts excellent, prismatic crystals of Hubnerite with good form sitting among gemmy, white/colorless, prismatic Quartz crystals. The largest Hubnerite measures 3.0 cm. Some of the Hubnerite crystals are not fully crystallized, but the piece is in fairly good condition. With strong backlighting, you can get just a bit of blood-red color to come through the edges, but most of the Hübnerites are essentially opaque.
