Hübnerite on Pyrite (rare locality specimen)

A wonderful association specimen from the Morococha District in Peru featuring the rarely seen combo of Hübnerite on Pyrite. These pieces date back several decades, and they are notably hard to find from Morococha. The group is composed of many attractive, soft golden colored, metallic crystals of Pyrite showing a combination of cubic and octahedral faces with a gorgeous brilliant luster in select spots, but there are thin etching lines / striations that give the crystals a gentle matte reflectiveness. The largest Pyrite measures 2.6 cm. Sprinkled over the Pyrites are small groups of thin, bladed Hübnerite crystals, with individual blades measuring up to 1.5 cm long, along with very dark reddish-black Sphalerite groups that are studded all over the Pyrites. Even with strong backlighting, I couldn't see any color inside of the Hübnerite crystals, so they're essentially opaque. Overall the piece is in excellent condition, with no major damage on the display side, but it's contacted on the back where it was removed from the pocket wall. If you missed out on these pieces years ago, or if you're a new collector who likes sulfides, this attractive and elusive specimen from many years back would make an excellent addition to any collection.
