Item Description
A classic Hubnerite specimen from the well known Adams mine in Colorado. The piece was originally labeled as coming from Maggie Gulch, but I've never seen a confirmed piece of Hubnerite from there, and this looks just like Cement Creek to me. This Adams mine is essentially known for these specimens specifically, and they are still among the best and most popular for the species from all of Colorado. Dozens of beautiful, sharp, lustrous, deep brownish-red, tabular striated crystals of Hubnerite sit atop a granular Quartz matrix. The largest Hubnerite crystal measures a few mm long. Specimens such as this are not readily available these days, and for the quailty, size and overall displayability, it is certainly a very good small cabinet specimen of this well known material. Ex Art Soregaroli collection with a label from Schortmann's Minerals. Valued at $900 retail.
