Hübnerite (classic material)

Item Description

This is a very attractive and classic specimen from one of the most famous classic Peruvian localities. This small cabinet sized piece hosts a group of sharp, lustrous, prismatic crystals of Hübnerite which are associated with minor gemmy, sharp, lustrous, prismatic Quartz crystals on the reverse side. With strong backlighting, the crystals actually show a deep blood-red color, despite being a bit thicker than most. The terminations are complete and undamaged, which is not common for this material, as they can often be badly roughed up. These crystals have not been seen with much frequency in years, and they are among the finest Hübnerites ever found. This particular piece dates back to the 1970s.
