Hubeite (Type Locality), Inesite, Apophyllite & Quartz, (Lemanski Coll.)

Item Description

A rich and showy old large combination from late 1990s-early 2000s finds at the well-known skarn-type iron-copper deposit now worked for wollanstonite. Dark brown aggregates of Hubeite blades to 7 mm are scattered on the piece. Hubeite is a VERY RARE hydrated Ca-Mn-Fe-silicate and this is the Type Locality, named after Hubei Province. Scattered fan-shaped clusters of chisel-shaped, orange-red-brown Inesite lathes also rest on the striking dense nest of scintillating, elongated clusters of tiny colorless and tinted brown apophyllite crystals. A few quartz sections peer out in the front, with sharp gem quartz points, to 4.0 cm, visible on the back with pyrite. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in 2002 right as the first specimens came out of China through the Rocksmiths, and the new black species was still unidentified and unnamed on most labels. Classic, excellent and rich large Fengjiashan combination material with rare Hubeite. You do NOT see these today. This is a valuable piece in China, where many colelctors wnat this old Hubei material
