Hubeite (TYPE LOCALITY)

An extremely rare silicate, this fine example of Hubeite features a rich layer of deep brown, 5 mm, bladed crystals completely covering the surface of this small-cabinet specimen. From the impressive and expansive collection of Dr. Robert J. Lauf, this is a PUBLISHED and Type Locality specimen, both of which are of particular interest to collectors. Note card, book, and any old labels included. This was purchased from Rocksmiths in 2001, from the first batch of material that came out in 1999-2000 if i recall (and, still the best!) - such specimens, of this richness, are VERY rare today. Rocksmiths had the majority of specimens. This should be valued well over $2000, and in China itself would be a treasure worth its weight in gold, as the species is the national pride of museums and collectors, particularly those near Wuhan (where this was found). Note from Rob - having been underground here, I can tell you it is highly unlikely more will be found.
