Item Description

Hubeite is a VERY RARE hydrated Ca-Mn-Fe-silicate named in 2001 from this well-known skarn-type iron-copper mine in Hubei Province. A very cute 1.3 cm radial fan of lustrous golden-yellow to dark brown hubeite blades is prominently set on the sculptural lightweight gossan matrix crust with numerous hubeite blades along with an impressive contrasting dense carpet and typical association of pretty pink vitreous Inesite lathes, to 1.5 cm. Inesite is an uncommon complex hydrated Ca-Mn-Fe silicate. Hubeite is found at only two worldwide localities (mindat). Ex Richard Rossi Collection. Richard is a Senior Fellow of the Mineralogical Record. A classic, very rich and showy small cabinet combination of the species.
