Item Description
Howlite is a rare Ca-borosilicate with a hydroxyl. This sculptural, large, sawed end nodule shows the interesting interior patterns of cauliflower-like nodules of the white howlite from this extinct borax mine. Formerly in the Rutgers University Geology Museum Collection. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection No. 0915CL and acquired in 1987. Cabochons, bookends and decorative items were cut by lapidaries. A showy, rich and highly representative example of the species and locale.
