Item Description
A rare anhydrous Ca-B silicate, Howlite is well-known from this extinct borax mine. Sculptural intergrown globular masses of porcelaneous bone-white howlite are aesthetically set in the polished shale nodule. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection. An excellent old-time display quality specimen of this rare borate species. Comes with a Schortmann's Minerals label from one of their well-known New York City mineral sales in 1947. A historically fine specimen.
