Item Description
Howlite is an uncommon calcium boro silicate, which is well known from Tick Canyon in Los Angeles County. The pieces typically form as massive nodules, and this is a great example of said material. This piece features a cluster of intergrown nodules which have a silvery hue on the exterior, but where it's contacted, you can see the stark white color underneath. Classic material, and not terribly common on the market now. Ex Kay Robertson Collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
