Item Description
Mineral specimens of any species are rare from this obscure Czech locality and hornblende specimens are EXTREMELY RARE. This is a pristine, super-sharp, highly lustrous, jet-black prismatic floater crystal. The surface undulations and inclusions add much pizzazz to this cute and classically formed thumbnail. This could be a Diopside crystal, as a similar looking crystal is featured in the MINDAT photo gallery for the locale. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 5921 and acquired in the late 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
