Item Description

This rare and dramatic specimen is from the most famous, and possibly the oldest underground salt mine in the world. Lustrous, sharp, hoppered salt cubes have amazing bi-lateral symmetry around the central spine on all three sides of the specimen! It looks like some kind of weird tree or striking, geometric sculpture. The color is tan to shades of brown and the specimen has a satiny finish. It is truly classic for the locality, and very visually impressive as well. Most of us don't think of salt as a collectable mineral, but when it is this good, it really is such a thing. Complete all-around. Very rare in this form from this locale. No fluorescence. Ex Dave Stoudt Collection # 537 and acquired in Warsaw in 1998.
