Item Description

The world's finest specimens of hopeite, a rare hydrate zinc phosphate, easily come from the famous and extinct Broken Hill (Kabwe) Mine. This is a solid, rich and very showy cluster of two generations, bone-white and yellow, of densely intergrown prisms. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 3400 and previously in the Rapp Collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). This outstanding small cabinet is prominently illustrated twice in MINDAT - in the Hopeite species gallery and in the Kabwe (Broken Hill) gallery. The photos are by Rock Currier.
