Item Description

A hard to find specimen of Hopeite (hydrated zinc phosphate) from the famous Kabwe Mine (Broken Hill Mine) in Zambia. Dozens of very sharp, well-formed, tabular almost "sword"-shaped orthorhomic crystals measuring up to 1.0 cm can be seen all over the piece. Nearly all of the crystals are undamaged, though a few small contacts can be seen. This piece was mine circa 1960s-1970s, and they will never be mined again. The finest crystals of Hopeite come from thsi locality and they are seldom seen in today's market. Priced at $850 in our inventory.
