Item Description
The finest examples of Hopeite in the world are those from the classic Kabwe Mine (Broken Hill Mine) in Zambia. The size and quality of the best Hopeites from this mine are second to none. This piece hosts dozens of well-formed, sharp orthorhombic crystals of Hopeite with a reddish-brown iron oxide coating measuring up to about 5 mm, sitting on a thin layer of matrix. The crystals looks great under magnification, and virtually all of them are undamaged. From the Petersen Mineral Collection of The Woodlands, Texas.
