Hinsdalite pseudomorph after Pyromorphite (ex Dr. Wouter van Tichelen Collection)

Item Description

This locality is famous for its beautiful green Pyromorphite specimens, which sometimes have pseudomorphed into the rare lead aluminum phosphate, Hinsdalite. It should be noted according to mindat.org that Hinsdalite might have been misidentified, as these pseudomorphs are actually Plumbogummite replacing Pyromorphite. Additionally, this material is often labeled as coming from the "Sylvester Mine", which is actually immediately to the south of the Zeehan Queen Mine. With that said, this piece features a coverage of soft cream-yellow colored Hinsdalite which have pseudomorphed after small / micro hexagonal green Pyromorphite crystals on a layered oxidized matrix. This material dates back a few decades, and is extremely limited on the market today. Great quality for any fan of secondary ore mineral collectors or pseudomorph enthusiasts.
