Item Description

A genuine old time Hiddenite specimen from North Carolina. A lot of greenish Spodumene gets labeled as "Hiddenite", but I've been told that the true Hiddenite is only the Cr-bearing material from locality at Hiddenite. This piece is From the collection of noted Colorado geologist, Allen V. Heyl, for whom the species Aheylite was named. The specimen features sharp, gemmy, electric green prismatic crystals of Hiddenite up to 5 mm on rarely seen Quartz matrix with minor Pyrite. The piece comes with an old Shale's Minerals label from many years ago. Additionally, there is a label from Bunk that states the piece was part of Bill Smith's collection at one point. VERY hard to find on the market these days, especially on matrix!
