Item Description

VERY RARE and rich older heulandite from a most obscure urban Los Angeles County locale! Lustrous, translucent, colorless, coated jackstraw crystals, to 2.0 cm, cover the impressive elongated matrix plate. The scattered broken crystals reveal the high luster and translucency. MINDAT lists several heulandite localities in the Santa Monica Mountains, but there are no photos. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 1131 and acquired in the late 1950s. Her label says the piece was found by Jack Freeman. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Rare, perhaps UNIQUE two-sided heulandite from LA County! A MUST for the species or locality collector!
